| My reading of the newspapers indicates this legislation allowing direct giving to charities from an IRA without paying federal and state income taxes on the amount might be passed this calendar year and is retroactive to the first of 2003. Any comments on the likelihood of this occurring? I am wondering if the amount gifted will count against the minimum that must be withdrawn from the IRA? There were little detail in the text of S.283 that I read so I guess the IRS must have to write regulations after the bill is passed. Is there time in this year to accomplish all that? -- Jim Chapman << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
