To turn off archiving with the "X-NoArchive: yes" header would be a great loss to the world, and lead to re-asking of the same questions by the people who tried to check the archives but were thereby unable to find results. Admittedly the number of people who research before asking is small, but let's enable those who do. I have found Googling into M.T.M history to be very useful. If the introduction of that header were only passed through when placed by the original poster, I would have no objection. << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

Actually, I have recently switched newsreaders and therefore> software. Mike Wing had requested that I include an archive > header. Any other requests? no longer have a way to conveniently set the archive bit. So, I guess that issue no longer matters to me. <g Might this be a good time to suggest the use of the STUMP system? The main advantage, I suppose, is that you could easily hand off the moderator duties to others from time to time, and this might result in the group being posted more frequently. Sure, it would change the character of the group a bit, and there is a cost issue to address. But I'll bet those problems could be handled. Anyway, it's just a thought... <g MTW ================================================== ========== Moderator: I know nothing of STUMP. ================================================== ========== << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

| First problem is personal. It will be 16 weeks come Monday since I had that damn bone spur removed from my left heel. The incision has still not healed. I am still experiencing unexplained sporadic sharp pains for which I am taking some heavy duty pain killer. (If Rush Limbaugh is going cold turkey, maybe he'll gift me his stash. <G> ) The effect is that I am not getting on-line as often as I need to be. Second problem is electicity provider reliablity. The hurricane put me off-line for four days. This past week my power has fliped out at least 7 times. The fifth time it took out the power supply on my PC. I have hooked up a very old laptop to get on-line. Unfortunately none of my newsgroup software is on this sucker. So I am going to be posting manually which means one-at-a-time. There are 90+ submissions waiting to be posted. Third problem. I am going to completely rewrite my newsgroup software. Mike Wing had requested that I include an archive header. Any other requests?
