Deduct as an itemized deduction on Schedule A of your tax return.

Default nj unemployment repayment deductable?

searching Google I found a link about someone from Mass who, like
myself was found non fradulent but still required to repay
unemployment from previous years. (in my case unlawfull layoff settled
thru arbitration) Unlike him however I have not received a 1099 for my
repayments from NJ and did not realize since I paid income tax on this
income when I received it I may be entitled to deduct it as it is now
reducing present year incomes - I do get a bill every month with a
running balance from unemployment (NJESA) that includes my payments
and credit for homeowners and state rebates that they always seize.
Is it deductable, Can I back file for previous 2 years of repayments?
Do I need and if so how to aquire 1099 for this and previous years. I
am a single dad raising 2 kids and still have 18 mos of rehabalitative
alimony to pay..I soooo need this!$$

MASS:
