Hope you made it through with no or minimal damage. I've
been through two hurricanes, Carla when I was around
thirteen years old, and Alicia twenty years ago. We made it
through Alicia, and lost power for only a few minutes during
the height of the storm. My wife's brother came to help us
clean up afterwards. As he was up in a tree trimming broken
limbs, he lost control of his chainsaw and cut the line from
the power lines to our house. We were out of power for
about four days.

For those who know Texas and are wondering, no, he isn't a
Texas Aggie.

No power at my home. An endless quest for ice and propane.
Dodging fools who run through out traffic lights without one
bit of concern for others. Luckily, in my subdivision most
trees missed most houses and those that found one or two did
not cause any injury to the folks who lived in them. The
boil water order was a pain! Most restaurants would not
make coffee! President Bush came yesterday and they
withdrew the boil water order. Hail to the Chief! If he
gets credit for the economy, then he should get credit for
the water.

I know the feeling. Following Hurricane Andrew (1992) we
were without power for two weeks in 95 degree August heat.

Daily ice trips to the supermarket, canned tuna fish, peanut
butter and jelly, cold showers, etc. etc.

Despite that, we were -- unlike so many others -- fortunate
to still have a house.

I doubt anyone would disagree with me on this. The important
thing is that you made it through the storm.

Hope your power's back on and you are high and dry with no
damage!

My daughter is a bit miffed. She was looking forward to
being in a hurricane after moving to FL instead of the snow
storm of last winter in DC and lo and behold! Her friends in
DC got the dubious "pleasure" first.

I grew up with them so I have no enthusiasm for the
experience. <g
