And assuming you're NOT talking about a corporation, you still dont need one just to be a proprietor. However, there is still a case for getting one. And that is that SOME banks require one in order to open a business checking account. However, if you're just a small proprietor, don't tell the bank you are one and get one of those free checking accounts if your bank features same, e.g. for senior citizens? No, it does not include self employment taxes. Employment> employment taxes". Does that include self employment taxes? taxes would be taxes withheld or paid on behalf of employees--federal withholding, federal unemployment, Social Security, Medicare and the matching Social Security/Medicare.
