If you've been worried about it, it's already cost you more
than it is worth!!! Just file the thing and be done with
it. Your state law may have requirements that you file even
if you've made only a very small amount. In Pennsylvania,
for instance (although many do not adhere to it), if your
income exceeds $35. filing is requried.

Yes, go ahead and file the 2001 return as rapidly as
possible. You don't want or need any further problems with
IRS. If you are entitled to a refund for 2001, the IRS will
keep that money until and unless you file. The money,
regardless of how little, is yours. It does not belong to
IRS.

Did you have any income in 2001? It sounds like you did if
you are saying you have a small refund coming. It probably
wouldn't hurt to file the return. The IRS may send you a
notice if they have a W-2 on file with no return.

Your posting appeared right after "Dan's", who forgot to
file a 1996 form. Nothing was ever said at the time, but now
it came up in connection with his government job
application.

Answer - go ahead and send it in. It's not a big deal now,
but when they nominate you to be ambassador to France ...

Both. Send the return, and then you won't have anything to
worry about.

Default Didn't file 2001 taxes

I filed my 2002 taxes, but didn't file my 2001 taxes. I am
using 1040ez and don't owe anything. Should i go ahead and
send in my 2001 taxes, or just not worry about it?

I think my refund is around $2 or something.

Any help is appreciated.
