There's been some discussion here about why practitioners do or do not participate in the e-filing program. (I do, and have for several years.) I was wondering if this would be any reason for those who don't participate to start. -- Joel Berry, CPA Sugar Land, Texas << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

| - quote - e-services - Coming Soon! WHAT: e-services are a suite of Web-based products that will allow firms to do business with the IRS electronically. e-services are currently in testing, and are expected to launch in the Summer of 2003. Participants must first register to use e-services, and then apply for the incentive programs to be released during the Fall of 2003. The IRS offers the e-services Disclosure Authorization, Electronic Account Resolution and Transcript Delivery System to Authorized IRS e-file Providers as an incentive for e-filing 100 or more of their clients' accepted individual tax returns. E-filed returns are processed faster with fewer errors, which results in quicker refunds. e-services will give IRS e-file Providers easier access to the IRS and the ability to receive information electronically, cutting down response times which enables IRS e-file Providers to better serve their clients. All e-services products will be quick, convenient, and easy-to-use. <SNIP Incentive Products Please Note: Disclosure Authorization, Electronic Account Resolution and Transcript Delivery System are incentives available to eligible firms who apply and are accepted in the IRS e-file Program and then e-file 100 or more accepted individual tax returns. Disclosure Authorization (DA) Eligible tax professionals may complete authorization forms, view and modify existing forms, and receive acknowledgement of accepted submissions immediately--all online. Disclosure Authorization allows tax professionals to electronically submit Form 2848, Power of Attorney and Declaration of Representative and Form 8821, Tax Information Authorizations. This e-service expedites processing and issues a real-time acknowledgment of accepted submissions. Electronic Account Resolution (EAR) Electronic Account Resolution allows tax professionals to expedite closure on client's account problems by electronically sending/receiving account related inquiries. Tax professionals may inquire about individual or business account problems, refunds, installment agreements, missing payments or notices. Tax professionals must have a power of attorney on file before accessing a client's account. The IRS response will be delivered to an electronic secure mailbox within 72 hours. Transcript Delivery System (TDS) Use the Transcript Delivery System to request tax return transcripts, account transcripts and a record of account for your individual and business taxpayers. Resolve your clients' need for account information quickly in a secure, online session. Tax professionals must have authorization on file with the IRS before accessing a client's account. -- Joel Berry, CPA Sugar Land, TX << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
