Is your Prosystems 96 software DOS based perhance? If so,
it will work on Winners XP. ("Winners" = Southern Windows)

As others have noted, a very real problem will be that you
may find the old software simply won't run on the newer
hardware and operating systems. So in addition to the
software, you may need to find a 286, DOS 3.x and an old
original LaserJet with the tax font cartridge <grin> .

You may be able to find someone with original tax software
disks lying around. Harder still would be to find someone
who still has 1992 softare installed and working.

Why not simply look around town for an acountant who still
has package X for that year? I know I hve them way way
back sitting on a shelf.

Some things are still best done the old fashioned way;
by hand.

Call your software vendor. I know Lacerte would send back
copies without a problem, but I don't know how far back they
can go.

I have copies of programs which go back to 1992. Some are
on my old 286 computer. I believe those which I have on
windows start in 1993. I know of no way to get old
software, other than that you try to get a quote from one of
the software providers. The cost is likely to be
prohibitive. Perhaps you can find a local practitioner who
will let you use their old programs. Even with the
programs, when I get such jobs, I frequently have to resort
to old manuals to help refresh my memory about the old tax
laws!!=

How can you be certain the software would even work? My
goodness, Windows 3.1 wasn't even out back then.

I tried using Prosystems 96 software only to find out it
would not work on Windows 2000.

Default ISO Old tax software

Is there anywhere I can get copies of old tax software? We
have a client who hasn't filed for over ten years and we are
trying to prepare returns as far back as 1992. There have
been some changes and it's a pain in the neck to white out
and type the corrections.

Thanks,
Mike
