As others have noted, a very real problem will be that you> have a client who hasn't filed for over ten years and we are > trying to prepare returns as far back as 1992. So in addition to the software, you may need to find a 286, DOS 3.x and an old original LaserJet with the tax font cartridge <grin> . -- Ed Zollars, CPA Phoenix, Arizona << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |

Harder still would be to find someone who still has 1992 softare installed and working. Why not simply look around town for an acountant who still has package X for that year? I know I hve them way way back sitting on a shelf. Some things are still best done the old fashioned way; by hand. Call your software vendor. I know Lacerte would send backcopies without a problem, but I don't know how far back they can go. I have copies of programs which go back to 1992. Some are> have a client who hasn't filed for over ten years and we are > trying to prepare returns as far back as 1992. I know of no way to get old software, other than that you try to get a quote from one of the software providers. The cost is likely to be prohibitive. Perhaps you can find a local practitioner who will let you use their old programs. Even with the programs, when I get such jobs, I frequently have to resort to old manuals to help refresh my memory about the old tax laws!!= ![]() "Jack" - John H. | Is there anywhere I can get copies of old tax software? We have a client who hasn't filed for over ten years and we are trying to prepare returns as far back as 1992. There have been some changes and it's a pain in the neck to white out and type the corrections. Thanks, Mike << -------------------------------------------------> << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org > << -------------------------------------------------> |
