If you had some rental property, sold it in 2002, and for
some reason, paid the final expenses of the RENTAL activity
in 2003, then there would be a 2003 entry on Schedule E.
I'd also attach an explanation that it was for some 'final'
expenses of the rental activity.

Now, if it was paying for a SALES expense (a cost to sell
the property), then it sounds like a Schedule D entry is
appropriate.

Default Schedule "E" Expense

I have a schedule "E" expense in 2003 for a rental property
I disposed of and reported the sale on my 2002 tax return.
Can that expense be the one and only entry on the
schedule"E" for 2003?? Should I included the 1099 for the
expense with my filing??
