Sounds like the best way is still to just make a copy of
the file at the end of each year. Make it an after-
Christmas task.

One amplification to what Cal wrote: the problem with this, as with
archiving, is that the saved data file becomes a museum piece stuck in
whatever version of Money wrote it. Any future use will require either not
upgrading Money--ore retaining multiple versions of the application--or
doing a file upgrade to the future version you want to use to look at that
historic data.

But why do you want copies of previous years?

My Money file goes back to '95, I have never archived and I can get all the
annual reports I need by customising reports.

Let us know why you think you need copies and perhaps we can offer some
suggestions.

I would keep a copy of the Money file as it exists at the end of
each year. Having more than one fairly recent backup of your Money
file is always a good idea too.

You can customize reports to only report on a date range that you
specify.

The archive file is a copy of your Money file as it existed at the
time of archive. Archiving is a bad idea for most people.

See FAQ available at http://umpmfaq.info/faq.html for information.

Default archive data

I'd like to archive my previous years in another file. I
tried the ARCHIVE option but what it is doing is deleting
my 2003 transactions but i want to have a copy of my 2003
transactions.

Thanks
