Default Re: Downloading Paypal info into Money 2002

Just tried it with another machine and still the same.

Maybe I should leave PayPal to focus on getting rich with Ebay, for they
don't appear to be very expert at software engineering!

Many thanks for your time, Cal - much appreciated.

Hi Cal,

I don't have a problem downloading the PayPal data in CSV format - that
gives me everything I need, although I cannot import it into Money in that
format. [Maybe I can?].

This is why I tried the QIF option, but alas, even selecting a specific time
period each and every downloaded file is 357 bytes, whereas the CSV file is
50Kb.

I have spoken to PayPal about it by telephone after they were unable to
resolve the issue by email. It was assigned as 'a matter for escalation with
the software people' but that was 4 months ago. I repeated the exercise 2
months ago and still no solution, hence my plea for help in this forum.

The problem is the "almost empty" QIF file compared to a complete CSV file
when calling with identical parameters.

Most institutions only provide data back a limited amount of time
that usually ranges between a month and a year. Paypal goes back to
Feb 2001, when I started the account, when I just tried it. Is it
your thought that you think that Paypal should provided data back
for a longer period than that? I just set the start date as a date
in 2000.

Or is it that there is recent data missing? If it is the latter, the
QIF file may be in MM/DD/YYYY format, and you are set up for
DD/MM/YYYY format. You could look at the QIF file in a text editor
to see that. In that case you would want to seek a program to mung
your QIF file. The alternative would be to temporarily change your
system settings when processing the QIF. I don't know how effective
that would be with your UK version of Money, or whether you would
need to reboot, or what.

Default Downloading Paypal info into Money 2002

Attempting to download in Quicken format results in a single file of 357
bytes, regardless of the time-span selected.

Having failed to get PayPal to understand a simple complaint in plain
English, after 3 attempts I have given up seeking their guidance.

I wonder if anyone has solved the problem of downloading their entire
account history into Money 2002?

Any pointers would be most welcome!

Mike
