Default Re: Subtracting figures

One should also take care to watch which account is used. If you buy the
phone for $50 on your credit card then the $50 is a charge (left column) on
the credit card account. If 2 weeks later you sell it privately for cash
then in your cash account you should enter it as a "negative number" in the
spend column as Cal suggested. Money will automatically move the number to
the receive column, and if you keep the same category it will ask you if you
are sure you want to do that. I think it says "Save this deposit that's
categorized as an expense?" unless you turned off the warning message. You
should answer "Yes" because you are depositing the cash into your account.

You could enter a transaction with the same category but with a
negative amount. Accept the warning about income in expense
category.

Default Subtracting figures

If i was to sell a product that i had bought and entered
into Microsoft Money how do i tell money to minus the
balance of what i sold it for? For example, i buy a phone
for $50 and this goes under the Phone expenses category.
Later on i decide to sell it and i manage to get $20 for
it. How do i tell money to minus the $20 from the
original $50 i paid?
Thanks
