| FYI; I ended up using File, Repair Money File, and that did the trick. Wish I knew sooner. | Statement beginning balance for balancing the account and account beginning balance for Account Details are not the same thing. If you've never balanced the account in Money before and your account beginning balance was not baselined at a previous statement's ending balance, the statement beginning balance between Money and the bank statement are not likely to agree, <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1f88001c45812$79985ae0$a101280a[at]phx.gbl... - quote - > It's me again. This is not what you asked for, but it may be of interest:> balancing and not use previous information? That is > probably the problem. I changed the beg. balance on > account setup a few times; maybe the balancer doesn't > know. Money saves your work when you "postpone." I need > to start the balancing process over. If you wish to start fresh and declare an account balanced, you can mark all entries balanced. Select to show only unreconciled transactions. Sort by date, and go to the oldest transaction. Hold down Cntl+Shift+M and let auto-repeat work thru the transactions until none are left showing. Then balance making the starting and ending balance match the known balance. Choose the balance date to be the day after your last transaction. This is not the normal procedure. It starts you with an amnesty for former balancing. Thereafter, follow the normal procedure. Look at the balancing movie clip from your Money disk. |

| Is there a way to tell money you want to start over with balancing and not use previous information? That is probably the problem. I changed the beg. balance on account setup a few times; maybe the balancer doesn't know. Money saves your work when you "postpone." I need to start the balancing process over. Thanks again for your help with this! Bear with me and we'll figure it out I've invested so much timealready, I really don't want to have to start the account over! - quote - > -----Original Message----- > I don't fully understand your issue, but I do know this: the goal is to 1) > make sure that the account balance before balancing matches between Money > and the statements beginning balance, 2) Mark all transactions in Money as > cleared that are reflected in your statement; assure that all transactions > cleared on your statement are marked as cleared in Money, 3) Determine that > the beginning balance plus the transactions you just cleared in Money add up > to the same amount as the statement ending balance. | It's me again. The root problem is that Money claims the beg. balance it calculated does not match the amount I entered as beg. when I started the balance process. (There is a screen where they ask for statement dates, bank charges, interest, etc.). They claim that beg balance is wrong, but I checked it against the balance I gave in the setup and they match. thanks again! | I don't fully understand your issue, but I do know this: the goal is to 1) make sure that the account balance before balancing matches between Money and the statements beginning balance, 2) Mark all transactions in Money as cleared that are reflected in your statement; assure that all transactions cleared on your statement are marked as cleared in Money, 3) Determine that the beginning balance plus the transactions you just cleared in Money add up to the same amount as the statement ending balance. ANY intermediate number matters not. | I am having problems balancing my checking account in Money. This is the first time I have done it. Basically my paper statement flows exactly to the register balances in Money. However, when I open up the balancing feature and start going, the balancer has totally different balances after each transaction (i.e. different from the register). I triple checked that the account's beginning balance on the account setup screen is exacly the same as the beg. balance on the statement I'm trying to balance. I tried deleting all of the transactions and redownloading them from the bank website, but it didn't do any good. Before I delete the account and start from scratch, I thought I'd stop and write a post here. Any help is appreciated. Also, what is the "statement date"? Is it the first or last day covered on your statement? I figured the first day, but I wasn't sure. Thanks. |
