So you set up the stock as a US stock but the amounts of money entered for the price, comission etc must be entered in the base currency for the account (eg Canadian). Think of the currency converter tools as just calculators for use at time of data entry rather than automatic conversion tools. Unfortunately this makes it confusing when it comes to bonds which are effectively priced in %. Eg bonds normally trade around 95-105% depending on where current interest rates are in relation to the bond rate - but this also seems to be converted to base currency. In my case my account is in British Pounds so my bond is listed at around GBP£0.75. I guess it's ok once you understand what's going in but.. |

| Hi, I have an investment account in 'Canadian Dollars', today I purchased my 1st US stock and I'm trying to figure out how to enter it. When I enter the details, I tell Money it's a US stock and type in the US prices for the price and the commission but after I've entered it, all it does is deduct this amount from my cash account without doing any foreign conversion on it. I checked under tools and there is a conversion rate there for US. Do I need o set up another investment account in US funds to get this to work right? or am I doing something else wrong? Thanks James |
