| I have the Deluxe 03 and it does not turn off that button in options. I always uncheck the Update Money which helps stop this and other problems. I did have to enable it recently because DC made changes and it stopped updating until I allowed a Money update. arthur --- On Sun, 13 Jun 2004 07:19:41 -0400, Bruin wrote: - quote - > I am getting unsolicited pop up advertisements when I start Money 2003 > Standard Ed. Just looked & no, I do not have Money Express enabled. I typically set up software to never run in the background at all or kill the autorun stuff other ways. I got very little services/software running from a cold boot. I would love to be able to chat with the marketing puke that thought that ads would be a great idea. This actually stinks of a committee oh I'm sorry, TEAM decision. I may never know if M05 is free of ads or not as they are driving me away from the product now. - quote - > MS people almost never reply here. This is not a forum for
Surprised to hear that, I use other NGs on this server & get repliesMicrosoft-to-user > support. It's pretty strictly user-to-user. from MS people all the time. Thanks again for your reply. |

| MoneyExpress will show up in your SysTray unless WinXP has been trained to hide it. Check the setting at Tools|Options|Bills and Deposits|Money Express|Use Money Express. I'll believe the ads are gone from M05 when I see it. Level 1 Support people say all kinds of goofy things. MS people almost never reply here. This is not a forum for Microsoft-to-user support. It's pretty strictly user-to-user. Called MS directly since no MS people seem to want to reply here. The techie told me to "dismiss" the ad instead of closing it via the "X" in the upper right corner, you know, the one that many users use exclusively to close windows. Techie went on to tell me that he did not know why the ads keep reappearing & that 2004 will have the ads, but due to complaints 2005 will not have any ads. Looks to me like I need to change to a different money management package. Never been happy with this version of MS Money, even without the forced unsolicited advertisements pushed on me (SPAM). |

| Based on a finding reported in another thread, you might try turning off Money Express, then exiting/restarting Money, then changing this setting, then exiting/restarting Money, then turning MoneyExpress back on. This of course only applies if you are using Money Express. | I am getting unsolicited pop up advertisements when I start Money 2003 Standard Ed. Somehow the "turn off sponsorship & shopping..." box keeps getting unchecked! HOW? WHY? I PAID for this software. I wouldn't mind so much if it was free, but advertisements MUST come with free content of some sort. This is enough to make me change to another software package. ' |
