| Glad that helped. Thanks for the feedback. I think this is an interesting data point that may merit a new Q/A in the FAQ Option Settings category. I'm surprised there aren't more reports of this problem. Maybe that indicates how many (few) people really use Money Express. "D. K. I just wanted to let you know that this worked. (I did a moreeffusive post, having something to do with calling you a genius, at the time the problem was solved, but for some reason it didn't show up.) Thanks so much! D.K. |

| Glad I could help. Thanks for the feedback. So, if you set this setting with Money Express not running, exit Money and restart it, it stays set? What happens then if you re-enable Money Express and login again? Does it now retain the setting when you stop and start Money itself? "D. K. | Thanks for the two suggestions--I agree with the first--if you haven't bought the online version of MS Money 2004, DON'T! Get your butt out of that chair and head down to the nearest place it's sold. The exercise will do you good (it would have me) and save you lots and lots of headaches. The second, while appreciated, doesn't apply as I'm an Administrator. I found that I do lose other Tools|Options settings on each startup: Tools|Options|Online Services...tried to uncheck "Overwrite transaction dates" but when I get back in, the box is checked again. If I just close Money but leave Money Express logged in and open, I don't get the problem--the settings stay where I put them. It's just if I close both, then try to get back in, everything reverts to its "original" setting. (I don't have to reboot the computer to replicate the problem--just have to log out of Money.) So there's my solution: Never log out. Thanks for anything y'all can dig up. K |

| That seems to work fine here. I'm suspecting that jb is on the right track in his posting. "D. K. | Karthryn, Just a thought, but which operating system are you running M04 on? If you're running as a limited user, your settings might not stick. If this sounds like a possibility, try opening your file as an administrator and setting all your options. Then log back in as your user and see if they stuck. Good Luck! | The sounds are not included in the download but are available as a separate file. This is yet another reason to just buy the CD at the store like normal folks as we often advise here. There have not been other reports of problems with the auto-decimal setting. I'll try to remember to test this when I get home. "D. K. | I'm having trouble with my new Money 2004. I downloaded the trial version, then upgraded online. First there was a problem with the sounds not being included (by which I mean basic sounds like the start-up music or the "click" when a transaction is completed, not the audio help). Now I have a problem with it "forgetting" the settings I use on the Tools|Options menu--one specifically. When I go to Tools|Options and click the Editing tab, I can click a check box to "Automatically insert decimal point in amount field". But when I exit out of Money and come back, that check box is cleared again. I can't make it stay. I don't know what other Options it might "forget"; I haven't tested this problem with other settings. I just want this one. Suggestions? Thanks, K |
