| "Corrupt" and the symptoms Clark described are not one in the same. | I have no problems with Budget because I do not use Budget. I have read of others with this problem especially Mny automatically making decisions for users without their knowledge. The MS arrogance thing. Perhaps Quicken will do what Clark expects from this type of application. I hope he will report back here if he decides to give that a test run. They offer a 60-day money back deal. I am retired from the DP/IP business so have some understanding of the processes. An example: Marketing says that sales will increase 25% if a certain feature is added. The programmers know that the new feature was not anticipated and not built into the design. There is no budget for a rewrite of the software. The programmers can add the new feature using methods similar to virus writers, ie force it to fit. Over the years of adding new features the software becomes more and more convoluted and management gasps at how much they are spending on maintenance. The cost of every line of code ( programming ) is known and measured against some profit goals. There is no room in the budget to right the wrongs created over the years. This is not unique to MS but rather to the software engineering process. Perfection is non-existent which means that creation is imperfection. arthur ----- On Sat, 5 Jun 2004 03:43:00 -0600, "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > It's probably little consolation, but since **very few** users report > problems like yours, have you considered the possibility that it's your > installation/system that has problems, not the Money software? |

| It's probably little consolation, but since **very few** users report problems like yours, have you considered the possibility that it's your installation/system that has problems, not the Money software? | I have tried all I can. Reinstalled 3 times and did everything I could to make sure I did not corrupt the Database so I could get some reliable numbers, but I just can't. No matter what, some numbers are changed, on what seems to be to me a random way, so as to make this program unusable. Most of my problems seem to run in with the budgeting and reports area, but when the budget for my mortgage is doubled (I did not reallocate) all the other data is suspect. Microsoft, you folks have some very large problems with this software. Clark |
