Sorry, I was not aware of the options difference in pre-03 versions.

If you buy a newer Mny be sure to get the Deluxe if you want the
automatic account update to last 3 yrs instead of only 1. You might
take a look at the smartmoney site which will down load in excel or
csv or text for spreadsheet use. Also, take a look at optionsxpress
which I'm using and like. Things like the Alerts feature for example
and other goodies puts them way ahead of most as value added.

Scottrade wouldn't let me sell Puts in an IRA but they were perfectly
willing to let me do covered calls which is the same thing. Their
broker blamed it on their legal department.

Ah so. In which case pre-03 versions are no better than Quicken for
options except perhaps maybe it will update the option price?

With Money 2002, he can define his option as a stock.

You need to enter Sell Short to open that transaction.

I don't know mny02 but mny03 initially opens the Activity box and near
the bottom of the list is:

Buy to Open
Sell to Open
Buy to Close
Sell to Close

( the list order may vary from the above )

You can not enter options without stating one of these... same as
your broker requires. You will need Mny03 or newer if you can not
specify the above actions for stock or index options.

Default Working with non-employee stock options

Hi all-

After looking at Microsoft's knowledge base article on
recording and tracking regular call/put stock options in
Money (2002), I am confused because I can't get it to
work, even when following MSFT's instructions
explicitly. Basically, I have sold 100 covered calls
that I am trying to track. I created a new investment
for the options (the Scottrade symbol for June calls on
DIA stock). It's unclear if in the "symbol" box, I am
supposed to enter the options symbol or the symbol of the
underlying stock. Right now I am using .DIAFY as the
symbol. I created a new transaction by entering "Sell"
for activity, "100" for quantity, "0.75" for price,
and "13.51" for commission. When I try to enter the
transaction at this point, I get the error message: "You
have entered more of '.DIAFY' to renew or redeem than you
have in this account."

So I'm confused - how do I go about tracking these call
options that I've sold? Thanks in advance for the help!
