Normally when you do OFX downloads, each transaction hastransaction ID, which Money remembers. It knows it has seen that transaction before. So even if you delete the downloaded transaction and re-download, Money ignores the transaction subsequently. Plus when you download, Money tells the financial institution not to deliver transactions that existed there before the last successful download. However the FI sometimes ignores that aspect. Occasionally the FI messes up and gives a transaction a different transaction ID (FITID). Yet this theory does not seem to match your description. If the FI was changing the FITID in an OFX download, I would expect the transaction to duplicate regardless of how you had matched up the previous download. If you would like to see the ofx files money is using, hold down the Cntl+Shift keys while pressing the Connect button. That will save the transaction info into two files. YourBanknnnnnnnRQ.txt is the request info, and YourBanknnnnnnnRS.txt is the response file. The files will be in the same directory as your Money file. The contents can be rather obscure. OFX.NET has specifications. - quote - > David > "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:rnvrb0h921t2kc1eriufv6oklrak8n9b0f[at]4ax.com... > > In microsoft.public.money, David wrote: > > > > I have a problem with downloading statements from my bank. If a downloaded deposit needs to be matched with multiple entries in the register as when depositing several items at once, I can manually match them up just fine. The problem is the next time I download, Money somehow does not realize the transaction has already been downloaded and I get another copy. At this point I am stuck since I can not re-match it and deleting the downloaded transaction just causes it to be downloaded again. Matching downloaded transactions with a single entry causes no problems. Any ideas on what to do? > > > You are doing OFX direct downloads, or some kind of QIF download? > |
