| Greetings. New to Money 2003 here and setting up a budget. Things I spend money on every month (utils, groceries, etc.) are fine, but I'm having issues figuring out what to do with non-monthly items like say, car insurance or new glasses frames, that sort of thing. For instance, when I set up the budget I specified $100/two-years for Eyecare, since I just bought frames and won't be spending more on that until insurance rolls around again. Then I got to the Review your current budget status screen and it showed that I'd spent $85 for eyecare and only budgeted $4.17 ($100/24-months) for this month! Since it won't let me re-allocate funds from more than one month forward or back, I'm a bit stumped as to what good the less-than-monthly-frequency options are. Questions: 1) How does everyone else handle budgeting for these expenses (car insurance, renter's insurance, etc.) that don't occur monthly? Are they part of your savings goals or what? 2) What use have you found for the less-than-monthly- frequency options in the budget? |
