SUCCESS thanks!!! As a result of my moving the files
from my old computer with MS MONEY 2002 to my new one
with 2004 SB it would not work...so I deleted all
versions of money and reinstalled them one at a time to
determine which version had created the backup...if it
still asked for a password I uninstalled it and went to
the next version...it seems that 2002 was trying to
restore a 2004 SB backup...all data recovered!!

Thanks,
Chuck

Thanks Very Much for the help...I'll follow it and then
uninstall all money applications and then reinstall and

See the mother of all FAQs at http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=1.

If that does not apply, post the actual wording of the error message
you get.

The restoring machine is probably an older version of Money than the version
that created the backup in the first place. Bogus password messages are
Money's way of telling you that Money data files are NOT backward
compatible.

Did you reinstall the application or move the file to a different machine
with a new/different installation of the application?
