Were I you, I'd download the M04 trial version
(http://www.microsoft.com/money), install it, and try opening your backup
file. If it works, it will leave behind a .MNn file where Nn is the version
number of Money that created the original file.

If Nn is N7, N8, N9, 10, 11, or 12, then you know that the version that
created the file was greater than M98--ergo, you cannot use M98 to read the
data file. If that's what you find, go out and find a deal on M04 (maybe $25
or so after rebate), buy it, install it, and move on.

I have no idea what version the Money on the NT was. My
soon to be ex locked me out of the computer leaving me
with data files and no software to access them. He won't
even tell me the version so I'm stuck there. The backup
file name is "My Money Backup d1" and is a MBF file type.
I have two backups and get the same message on each. I
highly doubt both files are bad but suspect the .MNY part
of the message is the real problem. Any suggestions?
