| It appears to me to be a setting in IE. It has been a long time since I used any ME dirvative, but I do remember that when I upgraded a security patch that I had a similar error message that turned out to he fact that the secutiy setting for IE had set "Do not Save encrypted pages to disk". I do not know if you every had this working, but if so, I would try to determine what you did or installed during the time that it quit working. I then would open IE, go to internet options and hand check each of the settings. The one I mentioned above is under the security section in the advanced tab. I wish I could simply say re-install and the install would set all the IE options to the level that Money requires. Mike Simpson wrote: - quote - > Yes, that is the problem. In IE6, uncheckTools-> InternetOptions-> DoNotSaveEncryptedPageToDisk. If that does not fix it by itself, Start-> Settings-> ControlPanel-> FolderOptions-> FileTypes Select QIF Click Advanced. Check Confirm Open After Download unless you would not like the pop-up box. I would check the Always Show Extension, but you may choose not to. See that the "Actions" box contains "Open" in bold. If it is not bold, you can select Open as the default action by clicking the Set Default button. Click Edit. When you click edit, the application used to perform action should be similar to the following line: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\mnyimprt.exe" %1 WITH the quotes, and the %1 after the quote. Adjust the path according to where Money is installed on your system. Modify for your setup. Use DDE should be checked. Application should be "mnyimprt" without quotes. - quote - > Mike Simpson > "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message > news:dn76c0lu9k2do1qia66su9ftkd2188i3ap[at]4ax.com... > > In microsoft.public.money, Mike Simpson wrote: > > > > Most websites have a button/link labeled Money or Quicken. | No, security settings are still the same. I can download other file types from other websites without a problem. | Did you or someone change the IE security settings? Right click the IE desktop icon > Properties > Security Highlight each of the icons and note if the Default button is highlighted. Depending on your security needs, you can either return to Default settings or else enable specific sites for downloading files. arthur -- On Sat, 5 Jun 2004 13:35:19 -0400, "Mike Simpson" wrote: - quote - > Most websites have a button/link labeled Money or Quicken. | Most websites have a button/link labeled Money or Quicken. I choose the button for Money and then a "file download" box appears and I am usually given the choice to save/open the file. Instead of the choice to open/save a file, I am getting the error message previously posted. So, to answer your question, YES. I am using Internet ExplorerVersion 6.02.28.... with a 128 bit cypher. | I am using Money 2003 Deluxe on a Windows ME machine. I cannot download statements or transactions into Money from 3rd party websites that support Money downloads. I get an error that says "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item." Anybody know of a fix? Attempts to find help through Money's and Microsoft's Homepages have not been successful. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mike Simpson |
