| I've checked all that you mention. The help|about shows Version 12.0 Update 1 for both, so I'm assuming that's good. I'm not read only. I just realized that the Sample File didn't get installed, so maybe it is a bad install.. I'll try that. I was going to install a home network next weekend, I just may make that an after work task tomorrow and that should get back again in any case. Thanx anyway... - quote - > -----Original Message----- > Tough to say, probably not. > Are you **sure** they are both M04--or that the version on the destination > is as new or newer than the version on the source machine??? | Tough to say, probably not. Are you **sure** they are both M04--or that the version on the destination is as new or newer than the version on the source machine??? I know this seems obvious, but it seems to be the #1 cause of bogus password messages reported here in cases like this. Are you sure the version on the destination works? Have you tried opening the sample data file? Are you sure the data file you created by copying from CD to the destination is not set Read Only? Are you sure the data file you copied to the destination is available with full control security to you? Try making a new data file, with no password, and essentially nothing else in it, on the source. Transfer it to the destination using your same method. Does that one open with Money on the destination? Do you have other means available to you besides CD? Flash key, ZIP, network, etc? | I'm trying to copy my Money 2004 file from one PC to another, both using Money 2004. To make things easier, I'll call the source computer, PC-1, and the destination computer PC-2. I installed Money on PC-2 using the same disk that I used to install on the PC-1. I've copied the .mny file and it's associated backup for good measure onto a CD. I then took the CD to PC-2 and copied the files over. I tried to open the .MNY file and it prompts me for a password. I type in the password that I know is correct, because I can still use it on PC-1. Money tells me it's incorrect and also does the same thing when I try to restore it's associated backup file. What am I missing? Is this bug? Help!! |
