| Cal, I wanted to, and tried to, but the reason I didn't was 'cuz I couldn't - there was no way for me (that I could figure) to change the initial info. For instance, if I select "Fidelity Account" and then "edit this account" I could change the name etc, but not the account # : it was 'greyed out'. And if I couldn't change the account number, then I couldn't go online to retreive data pertaining to the "new account". So I had to "close the old one and open a new one". and then when going online, all I had to download was text from Fidelity showing TRANSFER FROM ACCOUNT # 1234566. So, I had the correct number of shares but since they arrived via 'transfer in' they had no cost basis. My sister does have m2003, maybe I'll backup my files, bring them there and try it on her PC. Then return home and import to yet a new file. Otherwise, I guess it's done via pencil and paper and my cost basis is $0 via m2001. bobb "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:vhd6gv4a1a19k80d12ktb9gdhcfvmfgo8p[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, - Bobb - wrote: > > al, > > > Is that a feature of Money '03 ? What you could have done is to just change the data on the T account> The info for the closed account still exists - but it's closed ! > So I needed a new account with new account info etc. That's why I did the > transfer rather than just continue on with the old info. ( I did just print > out old the old info from the old account so I have my basis - printed - not > in the register.) to the data for the new account. Perhaps you still might reopen the closed account, delete the transfers, and change the data on the old account. Maybe export the new account's transactions and import into the old account. Delete the "new" account. |

| Cal, Is that a feature of Money '03 ? (Which I don't have yet) - to correct the basis ? BTW, I closed /opened a new one to go online with fidelity. The info for the closed account still exists - but it's closed ! So I needed a new account with new account info etc. That's why I did the transfer rather than just continue on with the old info. ( I did just print out old the old info from the old account so I have my basis - printed - not in the register.) thanks bobb "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:rt86gv80ibtrll8ku3b6nidl0ug1de2r9e[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, - Bobb - wrote: > > A few years ago Fidelity converted my account from a "T" account (closed) to > > their "USA" account (new). > > How to simply track my cost basis now ? What I would try with Money 2003 is to reopen the old account. Undo> their "USA" account (new). > How to simply track my cost basis now ? And then re-do the transfer out. See if Money then handles the basis. You might keep an extra copy of your file in case something unexpected happens. |
