I think you probably need to move the My Money.mny file to a shared folder
(eg with simple file sharing enabled its usually C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Documents).

Before you do that check that the notebook can open other files placed there
(eg a JPEG in Paint or a MS Word doc etc).

Dont try an open the Money file from both PC at the same time.

Default Re: using Money on home network

This is likely not a situation of "configuring Money on the notebook" as
Money knows almost exactly NOTHING about using a network shared data file.
It's pretty much all done by functions of the operating system and is ALMOST
transparent to Money.

Some Qs:

Is the same version of Money installed on both machines?

Is the version on the notebook known to be functional? (Like it works fine
with the Sample file.)

Can any application on the notebook see any file on the desktop?

What desktop directory are those files in? If you put your Money data file
there, navigate to it from Windows Explorer on the notebook, and
double-click on the file, Money on the notebook should open it.

Please read and heed the Very Important Warnings contained in
http://umpmfaq.infp/faqdb.php?q=111. Many of us who have messed around
trying to use Money data files over the network (in my case, over 802.11b
WiFi) have not found it entirely satisfactory.

Default using Money on home network

I just got my notebook computer talking to the desktop.
I cannot get Money to open the database on the desktop
computer.

How do I configure Money on the notebook so that I can
open and modify the data file on the desktop?

I tried running Money from the Desktop through the
network, but XP home does not allow me to share
the "programs" directory that contains the Money program.
Thanks,
Sharon
