Default Re: Canadian version of Money 2004

Thank you for getting back to me Alex. I've just heard back from Microsoft
and yes it will track stocks. I agree with your assessment of MS. I have
been a user of Quicken since 1996. However they are certainly trying to
monopolize the market too. Quicken XG now has a key (much like winXP). It
cannot be installed on a second computer such as my laptop without paying
for a second computer. The ability to download from banks seems to expire
every couple of years and a new version has to be purchased. This has not
been the case with Money.....yet. I also found that the setting up of
tracking of stocks with Quicken is also much more difficult than with Money.
I had to format my drive earlier this year and re-install Quicken. The key
would no longer work and had to phone Quicken. I was greeted by a very rude
person who told me that the next time they had to give me a key over the
phone, that I would have to pay. These are some of the reasons I want to
go back to Money.

Default Canadian version of Money 2004

From what I can see, the "CND Standard" version is the
only one available here in Canada. A US friend who
purchased MS Money 2004 Small-Business Edition, tried
changing her settings and locale to CND from US, and
Money will not accept it - despite there being info on
how to do this in the Online Help file, here:

"My version of Money includes features applicable to U.S.
users only, such as the Tax Estimator: It may be that
Money has not properly detected whether you want to use
U.S. or Canadian settings. You can change your settings
by changing your currency to the Canadian dollar."

It would have been better for MS to supply the world the
same SKUs it has to the US market.

This is what happens when a monopoly like Microsoft kills
off competition in overseas markets and then abandons
it... little choice and little support :-(

I was a big MS fan, but now I'm going back to Quicken.
