this didnt seem to work
I just downloaded several transactions, one of which was a bank-fee, and it categorized it as a bills/mortgage paymen
same thing with another downloaded pos transaction for dinner, it called it a mortgage payment. The names arent even similar so I dont know whats up.

It won't do this if you turn off AutoComplete under Tools, Options, Editing.

When I'm downloading from my bank, Money 2003 will automatically place a previous used category for a particular transaction.
