| Hi Dick, Do you see a downside to clearing the "Retirement account" checkmark from Account Details so that the update wizard cannot be used and then turning it on again? That seems to reset things, but I wondered if there was a fly in the ointment, so to speak. Thanks, John "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote in message news:uEJOXPEMEHA.2532[at]TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... - quote - > For some reason, this wizard thing has never worked particularly well. | Env: M04 Deluxe, selecting one of my 401k accounts from the Account List. So under the View heading on the left you do not have three choices: Account Summary, Investment Transactions, and Cash Transactions? When I select Account Summary, at the bottom of the view window I have "Do you need to update your holdings?", a link for Account Update "Just let me quickly update how much I own.", and a link for Investment Transactions "Let me enter all details so Money can track my performance and taxes." I'm wondering if our accounts are setup for the same account types, etc. "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:h60a90di73jpft6l00e252d3n2u4r31qs3[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, Dick Watson wrote: > > When I select my 401k account, I end up on View: Investment Transactions. > > Other choices are Account Summary (the one) and Cash Transactions. > From the Account list in Money 2004, clicking my 401K account leads > me to the account transactions register. From the Account list in Money 2004, clicking my 401K account leads> Other choices are Account Summary (the one) and Cash Transactions. me to the account transactions register. The left column has Investment Transactions selected under the View heading. Under Common Tasks heading, I have Connect to broker, Update Prices, Research online, More investing tasks, and Change Account Details. At the bottom I see Online and Internet Updates. above that are New, Edit, and Delete buttons. Above that are the balances. If I Show Transaction Forms, I loose the New, Edit, and Delete buttons in favor of an entry form. Help has an item titled "Learn about the investment account summary ", but it does not tell how to get there. - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message > news:ees990lh5sa7gich4jklk8bpkj24m8oo9r[at]4ax.com... > > In microsoft.public.money, Dick Watson wrote: > > > > For some reason, this wizard thing has never worked particularly well. > I've > > > long used the quick update from the Account Summary page--it's sort of > > > hidden in a non-standard location down at the bottom: Account Update. > > > What is the Account Summary page? |

| The only sure-fire way is to open a support case at http://support.microsoft.com. To do this, you have to have a currently supported version (M02 ? Deluxe and higher) and it has to be a retail release. It's probably not worth the hassle. This thing hasn't worked very well since they first added it many versions ago. It seems hard to imagine that they don't have a significant number of reports of problems with it, but apparently they don't want to fix it. The support group would probably just tell you to export/import QIF or reinstall the app or something. "John G. | Hi Dick, Yes, that works... thanks... also my other non-retirement accounts (e.g. checking, savings, etc.) balance just fine. It would be nice if Microsoft knew about this... how would I report it? | For some reason, this wizard thing has never worked particularly well. I've long used the quick update from the Account Summary page--it's sort of hidden in a non-standard location down at the bottom: Account Update. "John G. | Hi, After postponing the reconciliation of my retirement (401K account), I can no longer run the wizard that does this (More Investing Tasks/Update retirement account). After the initial window asking for the dates, when I click on "Next", the window disappears and nothing happens. If I click on "Postpone" again, my Money file becomes corrupt and I get an error message explaining this to me. Is anyone else having this problem? Please advise - I've been updating my 401K for years now with no problem. I tried level 1 and level 2 repairs to no avail. Take care, John |
