First, let me say that I am not in Canada. And that what I know
about how the Canadian version handles basis is mainly from what
Canadian posters have described.

The basis for Canadian version averages across all accounts for the
same version. This is mandated by CRA for stock sell purposes, but
Money may carry this too far. For example, stock/fund holdings in
an IRA/RSSP should not be averaged in, but it may be. Usually after
I discuss this for a while to try to figure it out, the other person
quits in fatigue or disgust. What I can tell you for sure is that
the behavior for Canada is different from the US. The US IRS rules
use the basis specific stock/fund lots, with averaging with either
of two ways being an *option* for funds.

It is also reported by a Canadian poster that the stock/fund
holdings of a spouse should not be averaged in. That would mean that
you would have to work around that in Money with one of two ways:

1. Each spouse would have a separate Money file.
2. Each spouse's holdings would hold the stock/fund under a
different investment name. Instead of "Taheria", one has an
investment named "Taheria his"..... The downside of that is that
only one security can have a given symbol, so only one could
download prices.

However I think that price download and maybe even bank access is
only good for a year with the 2003/2004 Canadian versions. Not my
fault. Read the small print on the box.

Try the group-by and let us know the effect. Otherwise consider
working around this with separate Money files.

Yes, in portfolio view. I'll check the 'grouped by'

Displaying? Displaying where? In the Portfolio view? Is it set to
Group by Account?

Default Displaying ACTUAL stock purchase prices not AVERAGE stock prices.

Hello,

Money 2004 is displaying the average purchase price of a
security instead of displaying the actual cost of the security.

The problem is that it is pulling the average price from
purchases made in different accounts.

How can I change the settings so that each account displays
it's proper stock purchase prices?

Please help and TIA,

Rocker
