Default MS Money crashes 2-3 seconds after opening .mny or matching .mbf

Hello,

I have a Money file, which I started years ago, and which
has been upgraded by several versions of Money. It worked
fine for years.

Recently however, the file started crashing in Money
2002. I open the file, the home page appears, the mouse
cursor briefly flashes as a hourglass once, twice, then
the Money window disappears. Task Manager shows the
process is gone. If I navigate to Accounts or any other
page as soon as the home page shows up, the Money window
disappears shortly afterwards anyway. There is
no "Application error" or "Send this report to Microsoft"
or message of any kind.

I just upgraded to Money 2004 hoping the problem would go
away. It didn't. Money 2004 disappears the same way when
opening the same account file.

I have another *.mny account file, with different
accounts, which always worked in Money 2002 and still
looks good in Money 2004.

Any idea what this is and how I can work around it? I
can't access some of my financial data anymore, which is
a problem.
