| I have the exact same problem does anyone know how to fix this. QUOTE]-Originally posted by MostlyH2O - *Hi Folks, I can't figure out why the Budget feature changes the amounts I budge for certain items. I have a recurring bill entered in the bills and deposits. Yet when I look at my monthly budget, it sometimes double or otherwise changes the values I have budgeted for that bill. As I understand it, the autobudget feature is causing all th problems. But, I have made every effort to avoid using the autobudget. I hav also changed all transactions in my checking account for that bill to a completely different category. Still, my budget shows the wron values. Isn't there any way to stop this behavior? I would think the mos basic function of a budget would be to set a budgeted limit and to b informed if I exeed that budget. When the program changes my budgeted values, it defeats the whole purpose of a budget, doesn't it? Thanks very much for any help. | I don't know what it is, but I have a friend that uses MSMoney much more than I do and he has had problems with the Debt Reduction feature. He believes it comes from having an earlier version of Money and somehow it got carried over. | Hi Sue, Thanks for your reply. I tried starting a new budget, but the new budget seems to repopulate with the same, incorrect values. Even when I clear all the autobudget or ignore it altogether. I ended up deleting the category completely and making an entirely new category called "Insurance: Automotive" - the old one with all the wrong budget values was "Insurance: Automobile". Then I changed all the entries in my bank account to the new category, created a new bill and entered it into the budget. Now, finally it's back to the correct amount. I would think that microsoft would include a feature that would "purge" these erroneous values from it's budgeting process. I've found newsgroup entries going back to 1998 about this issue - but no real explanation or resolution. Thanks again. clear skies, Jack "Sue" <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2c6e01c4286e$7bf9f970$a001280a[at]phx.gbl... - quote - > I too have had that problem.....it seems to me it comes > sometimes from deleting a bill. > The only way I have found to correct this is to start > fresh with a new budget. | I have had the same problem. It occurs because the budget enters your amount (say $50.00) once in the generic category (i.e. Telephone bill) and then it enters it again if you have set up a recurring payment with a specific vendor (i.e. AT&T.) So what I did is went into edit my budget and I selected the generic Telephone category and changed it to $0 instead of $50.00. Then when I pay the AT&T bill, it shows up under the Telephone bill as a subcategory. This makes the amounts come out correctly. Hope this works for you! -Sue R. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > Hi Folks, > I can't figure out why the Budget feature changes the amounts I budget for > certain items. > I have a recurring bill entered in the bills and deposits. | I too have had that problem.....it seems to me it comes sometimes from deleting a bill. The only way I have found to correct this is to start fresh with a new budget. Your bills will still be entered but you will need to redo all your other budget amounts; so write them down before deleting the faulty budget. BTW I have used the autobudget for some categories and have not had a problem with those. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > Hi Folks, > I can't figure out why the Budget feature changes the amounts I budget for > certain items. > I have a recurring bill entered in the bills and deposits.
