That's your only option if you don't like the idea of using Add Shares
transactions. Your broker (Fidelity by chance?) is like mine, they only
provide positions, not prices, etc. I can tell you from experience that
if you're interested in tracking investment performance in Money you can
NOT use add shares.

My only problem is that I don't get specific share/price info right away, so
this would put a lot of work on me to update this manually every 2 weeks.

Charlie, if you know what you want to see in Money, and you don't have a lot of
transactions, I would suggest you do what I do. I MANUALLY add/deduct my
transactions and once a week have Money automatically get the price
information. I make sure what I do manually is what I want. These so called
automatic transaction things work differently for different people and
different brokers. Why let that cause extra problems? It is not worth it. Steve

Default Money 2004 and automatic portfolio updates

I have Money configured to automatically download statements from my
brokerage account for my 401(k). It downloads the statements correctly and
notifies me for review. When I click on "Update my positions", though, I'm
expecting it to record the new positions as purchases. Instead, it just
increases my positions and decreases my cash holdings in that account, so in
my monthly report I have an "Unassigned Expense" for the cash deduction,
even though it's not really an expense.

This also screws up my overall performance metric since it's not properly
adjusting my market value at purchase time. Is there something I'm
configuring incorrectly?

Any help appreciated.
