| I'm having the same problem signing into passport with MS Money 2003 deluxe. It don't work. It use to last year but it don't now. I've got several e-Mails into MS but they've absolutely no help. | A while ago, I had the same issue and was given a fix that seems to do the trick. The only problem is I cannot remember it exactly. I was told that Passport looks for some cache file and this file can sometimes become corrupt. It is always supposed to be a certain size. I believe this file is called "passportclient.xml" and it should be located in the "Application Data\Microsoft\Money\Webcache" folder if you use Windows XP or 2000. Delete the file and then try running Money again. Money is supposed to recreate the file if it's not there. Mine is 20kb as a point of reference. I would, of course, make a backup copy of the file. Maybe someone else can confirm what the file is that I am referring to. HTH, The Merg -- Today's problems don't worry me, I haven't solved yesterday's yet. | I've never experienced that passport problem, but will give two, perhaps marginally useful, suggestions: - Search the MS Knowledge Base for passport problems using Money, ... this Knowledge Base Article seems to cover a lot of possibilities: http://support.microsoft.com/default...06&Product=mny - There's also a link here for troubleshooting passport problems: http://money.msn.com/articles/data/deluxe/webmenu.asp - Try the Super Salvage Utility, see http://umpmfaq.info/ Keller wrote: - quote - > First of all, I've seen NUMEROUS posts about this issue, but found no > definitive solution. > I, too, use the .Net Passort feature with my Microsoft Money account. > Approximately 2 months ago, I began receiving the message that my password > was invalid. | I would love to see a definitive answer to your question as well since I have experienced the same issue with Money 2004. You might try creating another user profile to see if Money will logon to via Passport under that profile. I have found that even though my primary user profile seems to be corrupted that I can logon via the Administrator profile or open my data file over the network from other computers on the network. However, that doesn't resolve the issue with respect to using the existing user profile and in order to be useful will require moving all of the user information over to the new profile. I have addressed this issue with Microsoft's technical support and performed most of the steps outlined in the posting including reinstalling Money and removing all references that I can find to Money in the registry prior to reinstalling. I recently did a complete repair/restore to the OS without resolving the issue so this problem isn't easy to resolve. Good luck! - quote - > -----Original Message----- > First of all, I've seen NUMEROUS posts about this issue, but found no > definitive solution. > I, too, use the .Net Passort feature with my Microsoft Money account. > Approximately 2 months ago, I began receiving the message that my password > was invalid. | First of all, I've seen NUMEROUS posts about this issue, but found no definitive solution. I, too, use the .Net Passort feature with my Microsoft Money account. Approximately 2 months ago, I began receiving the message that my password was invalid. Here is a chronology of what has happened since. 1. I used the "forgot password" link to reset the password (even though I knew hadn't forgotten it). 2. Still unable to log-in so I bypassed the .Net login in feature and continued to use my Money file through 9pm last night. 3. At 10pm, went to access the file, and the option to open the file without ..Net passport is no longer available. 4. Tried reinstalling money, deleting cookies, deleting temporary internet files, managing the user profile under "control panel" to enable passport usage, and every other hint I found. Continue to get the message "sign-in name you entered is not associated with this file. " I have a home network, and I back-up my Money file daily to my laptop computer's shared drive. So, I went to the laptop and tried accessing the Money file. I am still able to get into the file by bypassing the .Net Passport features. I can access the backed up file. The file seems to contain all of my transactions. However, interestingly enough, it does not contain the reconciliations I have performed since November. (In November, and earlier, I had been using the laptop to run Money.) The first thing I did after getting into the backed up file was to DISABLE the .Net Passport feature. Hopefully, I will no be locked out of this somewhat up-to-date backed up file. I also went to the desktop computer and copied my money file to the shared drive. Then I tried accessing the shared money file on the desktop from my laptop. I get the message "the password you entered is incorrect." I believe this is definitely a Microsoft problem associated with recent security updates. Thank goodness I don't have to recreate my Money file, but I do have to reconcile all accounts from last November through April 2004. ANY IDEAS ... ANYONE Thanks |
