| Hi Cynthia (and group), Thanks for the many responses posted. One-by-one, trying these solutions, but have not rectified yet. Will troubleshoot internet connection next and see if there's a problem with my settings based on the public article below. Will advise. | James, Did you ever resolve your problem? I'm having the same exact problem and I don't remember where my disk or case is so I can't get any help for phone support. Don't know what to do. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > All of a sudden, I'm not able to log into MS Money '03, > Passport says incorrect password! | I had the same problem and it went away when I stopped Money Express while running Money 2004. All of a sudden, my passport login started working again. This was after I had reinstalled Money 2004, deinstalled Money 2004 and reinstalled it, moved to another Win XP system.... | Some Google'ing found another user with the same problem about a month ago. His solution worked for me... 1. Launch IE and go to http://moneycentral.msn.com/ 2. Sign-in using your Passport login 3. Minimize IE (don't close it) and open MS Money 4. Voila! Your Passport sign-in works. I suspect a problem with the Cookie being set via the Passport login through Money but haven't investigated further since I personally use Quicken on a Mac and the friend I was helping doesn't use the Passport features so the easiest solution was turn off the Passport logon features of Money and leave the file unpassworded. But perhaps someone wants to see if maybe Passport is returning a per session cookie (i.e., it only lasts until you close the browser) but Money is acting as if each request is a new session instead of a continuation of the previous one and expects to see a stored cookie? |

Searching for that was a convenient way to eliminate that possibility. You should try contacting Microsoft directly to see if they have some solution. |

| Same problem here, started a couple of weeks ago. I am accessing my MSN passport portfolio on the web site all the time w/o a problem, but Money 2004 suddenly refuses to acknoledge the same password. I even changed my passport password to see whether that does the trick, but Money still refuses. It looks to me like either a Money update or a MSN update caused this problem. I am glad that I am not alone. By the way, I do not have a *.m12 file on my HD. If that should be there and was there (?), what removed it? - quote - > -----Original Message----- > In microsoft.public.money, James wrote: > > > All of a sudden, I'm not able to log into MS Money '03, > > Passport says incorrect password! Trying to restore an .mbf file but Money is rejecting the logon even though it works on the website. Even have gone as far as trying to access the file using the Money 2004 trial version installed on a different computer -- freshly installed OS, first Money install, first Passport login -- without success. |

| All of a sudden, I'm not able to log into MS Money '03, Passport says incorrect password! Nothing has changed, as I'm able to log in through MSN's homepage without problems. MS Money Support suggests to re-install application if all else fails. Did so, and now backup file I'm trying to use to restore files asks for password - Says incorrect password again! How do I rectify this problem and/or remove password protection from the backup file? Didn't see this problem previously raised, thanks for any help! James |
