| Thanks for your reply. Something else is going on. I simplified the steps, but I still don't see what's going on. My steps: 1 Create new account 2 Enter one transaction, a payment for $10. 3 Balance the account. 4 Enter a starting balance of $100. 5 Enter an ending balance of $90. Expected An ending balance of $90. Result: Money informs: "Starting balance discrepancy." An ending balance of -$10. My register has only one transaction, a payment of $10. I entered a staring and ending balance, but Money ignores the numbers I entered, and calculates I have a balace of negative $10. What's going on? - quote - > -----Original Message----- > Mike - unless you are working with 1000's of > transactions, it should be relatively easy to run a side- > by-side comparison of the two registers to see where the > differences are. > This is THE most basic thing a finance program does and > Money (or any of the other finance packages) does not > make math errors. | Mike - unless you are working with 1000's of transactions, it should be relatively easy to run a side- by-side comparison of the two registers to see where the differences are. This is THE most basic thing a finance program does and Money (or any of the other finance packages) does not make math errors. It is either transactions that are/are not in one or the other registers or your starting balance is screwed up. Check account details for your starting balance info. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > The ending balance money calculates is always wildly > different from what my online register shows. | The ending balance money calculates is always wildly different from what my online register shows. For example, I create a new account, and then download a statement from my bank, which then opens in Money. The online register and the Money register show the exact same transactions, but totally different ending balances. When I try balance it in Money, I enter the starting and ending balances from the online register, but I can never get my online account and money to show the same ending balance. Anyone know why? This is a fundamental issue. Thanks and best regards, Mike T |
