| As far as we can tell the problem was caused by an Internet Update when M2002 grabbed an update intended for M2004. In order to clear this you need to follow Cal's instructions and DO NOT do an Internet update as that will simply go back to square one. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money Hints/Tips http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny UK Wishes/Suggestions mnyukwsh[at]microsoft.com <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:12ca001c3f6b1$981a4a90$a401280a[at]phx.gbl... - quote - > If you go back and read posts as far as Sunday 2/15 you > will know as much as anyone here. > Although some have suggested uninstalling and > reinstalling, I don't see why this should work if the > problem is actually caused by MSFT upgrading a database > somewhere, as someone thought. | If you go back and read posts as far as Sunday 2/15 you will know as much as anyone here. Although some have suggested uninstalling and reinstalling, I don't see why this should work if the problem is actually caused by MSFT upgrading a database somewhere, as someone thought. In any event, many of us can't reinstall since we don't have anything to reinstall from. And yes I think you do lose all your data if you do that. If I'm right on that last count, then spending the bucks for a new program like Money 2004 or Quicken would probably be a better option than trying to reinstall Money 2002 and continuing to struggle with it, if you lose all your data either way. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > What a relief to know that I am not the only one. Clear the Internet Temporary files in IE with Tools-> InternetOptions-> DeleteFiles. This is easy, tho it does not fix it in most cases. 2. Start Money again. If Money does not start, reinstall Money. 3. Do NOT do Internet Updates until you read that the problem is resolved. If this does not resolve the problem: 1. Remove Money 2. Reinstall Money to a new directory/folder. 3. Do NOT do Internet Updates until you read that the problem is resolved. |

| I can't even get Money to open. I get a flash of an hourglass and that's it. I've tried it from the desktop icon and the start menu. Sounds like this is a universal problem at the moment. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > Would this happen to be refering to a problem with Money > being unable to verify online login? | No, I haven't fixed it. After reviewing a few of the other messages on this site, I guess I'll wait until Microsoft fixes the problem?? I don't know what else to do. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > so how did you fix it? > or did you? > > -----Original Message----- > > What a relief to know that I am not the only one. It has to do with people not being able to open Money 2002 after> being unable to verify online login? If so, I am having > the same problem. | Would this happen to be refering to a problem with Money being unable to verify online login? If so, I am having the same problem. I found an old resolution that has you register a dll file. It works until the next day and then the same problem is back. The updates work after you bring it up offline and then select update under tools. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > What a relief to know that I am not the only one. You do not. Uninstalling does not delete your Money (*.mny) file. It> been in a panic all week trying to figure out what was > going wrong. If I do that, don't I lose everything in there? would not hurt to have an extra copy around, of course. Be sure to not get Money Updates until you read that the problem is fixed. |

| What a relief to know that I am not the only one. I've been in a panic all week trying to figure out what was going wrong. It took me over an hour to go through the help options and get nowhere (they wanted the PID for my program, which involves me opening the program!!). I finally found this discussion group and feel much better. I did notice that one suggestion was to remove Money and reinstall it. I'm not terribly computer savvy. If I do that, don't I lose everything in there? |
