| Good thing I get a full rebate on the cost of the program because I can't get it to run - I quit - It's too much to keep messing with and what you've suggested doesn't work - so I will just stick with Quicken and Never switch to Money - quote - > -----Original Message----- > In microsoft.public.money, <anonymous[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > > I just unistalled everything - I even did a search > > for "money" on my C drive and deleted anything that was > > associated with MS Money and I found some backup files on > > the server and I deleted those and anything that had > > anything to do (that I could identify) as MS Money and > > then I unpluged the LAN and reinstalled and started up the > > program and after about 3 seconds it shut down. I don't know if you can install Money on Win 2000 in safe mode, but it would be fairly simple to try. http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000...t/safemode.asp describes a safe mode paper. http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000...t_failsafe.htm describes a method to get into safe mode. http://support.microsoft.com/default...14&Product=mny talks about some registry editing to delete Money references. While your symptoms do not match the ones there, the techniques could be of interest. |

| I just unistalled everything - I even did a search for "money" on my C drive and deleted anything that was associated with MS Money and I found some backup files on the server and I deleted those and anything that had anything to do (that I could identify) as MS Money and then I unpluged the LAN and reinstalled and started up the program and after about 3 seconds it shut down. This is weird. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > Reed wrote: > > I can't run 2004 when I disconnect from my LAN at work > > where I installed it. That's not nice.> connected and it wouldn't work. It would start to run > about 3 seconds and then shut down. I guess I would try the steps in http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;310560 for selective startup or clean boot and then install to a new folder. |

You don't have to be connected to a LAN to run Money. And it really> where I installed it. Some subtly obvious (sorry!) things to think about: 1. When you installed M04, did you install it to your laptop's internal hard drive (usually C ?2. Is your Money data file located on your laptop's internal hard drive? |

| That is what I tried when I reinstalled it without being connected and it wouldn't work. It would start to run about 3 seconds and then shut down. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > In microsoft.public.money, Reed wrote: > > I can't run 2004 when I disconnect from my LAN at work > > where I installed it. | I can't run 2004 when I disconnect from my LAN at work where I installed it. I tried to uninstall and reinstall without the connection and deleting all associated files that I could find and it still won't start. So I reinstalled it again connected to the LAN and it works fine. Am I forced to only use this program connected to the LAN? |
