I had replicated the error in Money 2004.> After the update, the smrtconnupdate.xml file in the Webcache contains the > following information: > <smrtconnupdate> <lastattempt date="20040217"/> <lastsuccess date="20040216"/> <files> <file name="TAXCUT" date="20031120"/> </files> </smrtconnupdate> If I change the last attempt date to the 16th and try again, everything > works fine - until tomorrow. Closing Money, deleting temporary Internet files, starting Money, and doing the updates made the error go away-- for now. |

I see the problem too.> After the update, the smrtconnupdate.xml file in the Webcache contains the > following information: > <smrtconnupdate> <lastattempt date="20040217"/> <lastsuccess date="20040216"/> <files> <file name="TAXCUT" date="20031120"/> </files> </smrtconnupdate> If I change the last attempt date to the 16th and try again, everything > works fine - until tomorrow. |

| Problem is still there... first update of the day still gives the error. After the update, the smrtconnupdate.xml file in the Webcache contains the following information: <smrtconnupdate<lastattempt date="20040217"/<lastsuccess date="20040216"/<files> <file name="TAXCUT" date="20031120"/> </files</smrtconnupdate If I change the last attempt date to the 16th and try again, everything works fine - until tomorrow. -- John "John G. | So now I can "stop" the error report by clearing cache. Guess that means that there were no updates, or that errors finding them are masked? As usual, still can't get quotes. Yes, I've tried the changing "quotes to download" back and forth to no avail. Last weekend, the quote problem was magically cleared for 1-2 days, but is now constant. Is there any way to get Microsoft to support their product? Bill - quote - > -----Original Message----- > Thanks for re-capping Cal's post. I didn't catch it on the way past. > "John G. | If you'd read the threads before posting you would have found that many others have seen this and nobody has a clue what it means but all indications are that it is benign. | Hi Bill, Cal posted a message claiming that if we cleared our caches, the problem would go away. I'm not convinced since I only see the error once/day but I'll let you know tomorrow. | After requesting money updates, quotes, and staements, I consistently get error stating "Money encountered an error processing the downloaded file ('SMRTINET.INI')". This file does not exist. I re-installed Money 2004, and no change in error. I am able to get on-line statements, but no quotes, news, or updates. Any suggestions? Bill |
