No, that was not what I had in mind. It was to keep Money from> types relevant to the fact the conversion fails? turning the wrong thing into a mutual fund. But I guess it couldn't hurt. - quote - > If so, what do you mean by
I don't have the canonical list of standard, but stocks, bonds,> custom types? mutual funds, Money Market Funds for sure are standard. Quicken allows you to define your own types; those would be custom. - quote - > Is that securities, or??? If I can fix the conversion by
I have no special insight. What I would try if it were me is to see> tweaking the Quicken file, that's going to be a lot more likely than trying > to generate QIF files for approximately 50 accounts. if I could convert after clean boot or even booting into safe mode. That should let a minimum of things that could be competing for resources be running. I would let the conversion attempt run overnight since this could run a long time. That has not been your problem tho-- you are getting the fail. - quote - > BTW the conversion says it ran out of memory or disk space although a task
It may well be that Money will not be able to convert your file, but> monitor shows there was plenty of both. I understand wanting to give it whatever edge might be available. You tried the validate and super-validate? If you do try the QIF thing, to avoid transfers from turning into two separate transactions, it is important to import the QIFs into the new file all at once. This is done by selecting using Ctrl+<click> to highlight all of the files you want including. Further, before doing the import, the names of the investment cash accounts should be named something alphanumerically higher than the investment transactions of the account. So you could have "Merrill" and "Merrill Cash", but you would not want "Merrill Inv" and "Merrill Cash". "_Merrill Inv" and "Merrill Cash" would be good. So one way around this is to export investment accounts to files who's name starts with an underscore. But I can understand that QIF process is not one that you would look forward to undertaking. |

If I can fix the conversion by tweaking the Quicken file, that's going to be a lot more likely than trying to generate QIF files for approximately 50 accounts. BTW the conversion says it ran out of memory or disk space although a task monitor shows there was plenty of both. I've tried conversion since Money 2003, with no success, on a Quicken super validated file. Is this conversion problem going to be addressed by Money at any point in the future? Thanks TM |

Sometimes people have to resort to the QIF export and import, but not often. Change all custom types to standard Quicken types. Any custom type will be converted to type Mutual Fund by Money. It is often suggested to do a Validate and a Super-validate in Quicken before the conversion. http://www.intuit.com/support/quicke.../win/6148.html seems to imply that there could be a problem with that. So you might try the conversion with and without doing that. |
