| My Money 2002 also slipped quit unexpectedly into the same coma as everyone else's. However, all the posts here sure saved me time and aggravation. I simply uninstalled and reinstalled Money, and it will now remain running until Tuesday or whenever Microsoft releases its fix. And I am in complete agreement with this poster about backups. I have three: One in a different drive on this computer, one on a laptop on our home network, and a third uploaded to Yahoo's "Briefcase" module. There has been more than one occasions where I have needed my backups. Thanks everyone... -Ted On Sun, 15 Feb 2004 10:09:14 -0500, "Elizabeth" <none[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > I had the same problem. | I had the same problem. Uninstalling and reinstalling fixed it, but it sounds like that may not last. Despite some comments on this list, I really doubt it's a way for Microsoft to push us to Money 2004. They'll lose too much on support calls for this bug. As a programmer (not for Microsoft), I know it's very hard to support multiple releases without errors. Let's see how they do fixing it. BTW, let me recommend backups. Not just in Money format, but in Excel format too. For accounts and transactions MoneyLink (free from http://ultrasoft.com/moneylink/) makes it very easy to get the data, and easy to update. I've also exported some things MoneyLink doesn't support, like scheduled bills. (Reports > What I Owe > Scheduled Bills. Open the report and click Export to Microsoft Excel.) Don't know about you, but that makes me feel a little better. Elizabeth |

this or I'll jump back to Quicken. Tax time is upon me and I don'tso fast I didn't see what it said. I agree, Microsoft needs to jump on have time to mess with Microsoft's screwups. If I don't get a permanent fix soon, I'm quiting them cold turkey. Previous posts, indicated that they uninstalled, then re-installed to fix the problem OR tweaked the registry and reinstalled, but the problem re-appeared when MS updates were applied from Internet. Has anyone found something that works, even after re-applying Internet patches/updates? That scrolling console is usually a worm or virus attack. Did anyone try an online virus scan? http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/license.php http://www.trojanscan.com/ http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/defaul...fs/default.asp http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hous...start_corp.asp |

| Same $%^&#*& problem!!! I entered my PID from my CD and the Online Support screen responded that this product was not supported. I'm not so sure that the alternative ($$$$) version of support would be the `holy grail' on this issue. I'm starting to really dislike Microsoft. I need to print off some reports out of Money and can ill afford to deal with non-working or temporary fixes from MS. |

| This is EXACTLY what happened to me. I ran the internet update in Money 2002 today, and now I cannot open the program. I tried to reinstall, start it from the cd backup, etc. nothing works. I was going to try the online support from Microsoft but they want the PID which I can't get because you have to open Money to get it! | Same thing happened to me! I didn't catch the scrolling text in the DOS box, but I hope it's not some strange "Valentines' Day Bug". Re-installing Money should not be the answer -- Microsoft needs to fix this problem. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > My wife was trying to open Money 2002 on our XP laptop and > she received a DOS window with a bunch of scrolling text > and then it went away and she can no longer get into > Money. | Same happened to me. I'm wondering if it's the patch. I tried a reinstall, but no good. I'm going to uninstall and then do a fresh install to see if it works. | For the record....... The same thing has happened to me. I'm running Money 2002 and it simply doesn't start any more. I tried a re-install and it still doesn't start. Could this be the result of some screwed up Microsoft patch? I am also running XP and recently loaded the latest security patch. Could there be a connection? This is a very serious problem if we can't access our data. Does anyone from Microsoft watch this board? | The exact thing happend to me. Money won't open at all. What's up with this? I can't even reinstall it. It says there is information missing from the CD? - quote - > -----Original Message----- > My wife was trying to open Money 2002 on our XP laptop and > she received a DOS window with a bunch of scrolling text > and then it went away and she can no longer get into > Money. | My wife was trying to open Money 2002 on our XP laptop and she received a DOS window with a bunch of scrolling text and then it went away and she can no longer get into Money. She has been using Money 2002 for over a year now and no problems until now. The only thing I have tried to fix it is use use the Money 2002 installation checker (checksku.exe) which I found on the Microsoft website. When ran, it said "The following file version is invalid: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\MYOB99.DLL" Any ideas? Thanks, Terry |
