Well, it looks like this fixed it. (Nice easy fix is what I> the view is changed to show only unreconciled transactions or > in some other way. > First, try the simple thing: > File-> RepairMoneyFile-> QuickFileRepair like.) I also tried a few other methods, none of which corrected the problem: 1. Run "salv.exe" with either Level 1 or Level 2 repair (Level 2 made the file 50% bigger too). 2. File -> RepairMoneyFile -> StandardRepair (I think this does the same as (1). Thanks, Martin |

Symptom: Money 2004 register gives different balance when the view is changed to show only unreconciled transactions or in some other way. First, try the simple thing: File-> RepairMoneyFile-> QuickFileRepair If still no joy, try this one posted by Mark: :1. Make a copy of your Money data file. :2. Open that copy. :3. Delete ALL transactions in the problem account :4. Export that account as a QIF file :5. Examine the QIF file in Notepad. :6. If it is not empty and shows one or more transactions, : then those are likely the culprits. :7. Note the details of those transactions :8. Open up your original file :9. Import the QIF file [as a statement from your bank] :10. This should reveal the hidden transactions. So you :can now do with them :as you wish (Delete, modify, etc).' - Mark You might be able to shortcut this by doing the QIF export without deleting. Look for any 0.01 transactions in the QIF export since August. Strip the QIF file down to that one transaction, and import the modified QIF as a statement from your bank. |

| I am using Money 2004 Deluxe, and when I was checking my account balance (checking account) against what the bank said, I found I was off by $0.01 (Money was higher). After going back through my 15 months of transactions, I couldn't find any discrepancies (I had encountered an off-by-one-cent error previously that was a data entry problem). After adjusting some dates on a few transactions, I found that the balance had corrected itself (thus matching the bank)! After checking a backup copy of my data, I realised that the only difference was that I was choosing to display "All Dates" instead of just "Last 3 Months". Switching back and forth changed the balance that Money displays. Is this a known bug? Where can I submit a bug report/notify support of this problem? Thanks, Martin |
