I have a scheduled task which backs up the backup too. Feel free to use and
adapt. The one below makes a monthly backup, but can easily be adapted for
daily or weekly dumps:

[at]echo off
for /F "tokens=1-4 delims=/ " %%i IN ('date /t') DO (
set DT_DAY=%%i
set DT_MM=%%j
set DT_YYYY=%%k)

attrib -r "f:\backup\My Money Backup%dt_yyyy%%dt_mm%.mbf"
copy "f:\backup\My Money Backup.mbf" "f:\backup\My Money
Backup%dt_yyyy%%dt_mm%.mbf" /y

Derick

Money is a nice program, but it is not (for many of us) the most stable
software out there. You cannot (in my opinion) backup too often or in too
many places.

Necessary? No. Incredibly prudent? Yes.

You should not need the .mny file itself, but the .mny file is
probably more robust. For example, you can process a .mny file with
salv.exe, but you cannot process a .mbf with salv.exe.

I do a backup to CD-R about every three weeks, and a backup to Flash
drive each week. I backup to hard drive upon exit if I feel I have
made significant changes.

In Tools-> Options-> Backup I suggest checking
x Automatically backup to hard disk on exit
x Prompt me before backing up each time*
x Make my file small ...

Then periodically, perhaps once per month or more, copy your
latest backup (named differently from your earlier backups) to a
CDR. With XP, this can be a copy and paste operation. Otherwise
use the burning software that came with your CDR drive.

I suggest use of a USB Flash drive also. They typically act like a
big floppy.

* This has two advantages. You can change the file name
occasionally. I like to pick a name something like money040228.
Then it is easy to change the name to have multiple backups. The
..mbf extension is automatic. The other advantage is that you can
choose "Don't Back Up, or you change your mind about exiting by
simply clicking the X in the upper right of the pop-up box.

Default which files to backup?

Is it necessary to backup the .mny to removable media in addition to the
backup file itself? I just got started using '03 Standard and would like to
establish a robust backup routine (similar to Arge's post) at the outset and
stick to it. Any additional suggestions would be helpful.
