Who knows. But even one minute reading postings would reveal that this
problem is by no means limited to M97.

Actually, Bob I believe they thought I received enough on
my purchase about a day after the '98 version came out. Why
you may ask would I want to stick to the '97 vesion here
seven years later? The answer is speed and file size. I
have about 30 accounts and all transaction data between
1993 and today in a file that will still backup on
floppies. Try that with Money 2004.

Well, Dick you give no specifics, but since you seem to
be the expert here why not let us all in on the secret?
Why all of a sudden does Money 97 no longer connect to
download quotes? Could it be that somebody turned off a
switch to get us to downgrade to the new version?

At least one of your facts is wrong, and you clearly are not a careful
shopper, so I wonder about the whole rest of your analysis.

Anyway, have fun with Quicken and/or gnucash. Have you read up on the
gnucash development "malaise?"

Oh, and another p.s., do you understand the terms of Quicken's quotes
download service?

Default Money 97 - Microsoft won't tell

I'm guessing that Microsoft has decided in their
corporate wisdom to cut us Money 97 users off. But I've
got a work around solution. Oh, yes. I went to Comp USA
to buy a new version (Money 2004 deluxe --$60 no less)and
you know --- the Standard version won't download quotes,
and the $90 "Premium" version will only let you download
quotes for 3 years! Phooey. I got the 2002 version of
Quicken, and while I think Intuit stinks it still doesn't
stink as bad as Microsoft Money!!!! Also - the new free
version of Fedora Core 1 operating system from Red Hat
Linux includes the latest version of Gnucash. And it does
it all for free.
