| Update - I got in touch with a Microsoft support rep today (Feb 11, 2004) who indicated that there are problems with Microsoft Money servers that somehow have a role in Passport authentication. Apparently these problems have been occurring for a few weeks now and they are working diligently to resolve the issues. In the meantime, the alternative is to bypass Passport... -Greg g_other2000[at]yahoo.com wrote in message news:<316b109.0402111247.221a968[at]posting.google.com> ... - quote - > after thinking that i had this problem resolved and that the > msxml3.dll was the culprit, i am still getting the 'cant sign in' > message when trying to use the Passport. > at this point, i'll just keep bypassing the Passport features since i > dont really use them anyway, and i may disable the use of Passport > with Money alltogether... > good luck all. > g_other2000[at]yahoo.com wrote in message news:<316b109.0402100526.20869bcf[at]posting.google.com> ... > > I had a similar problem with Money 2003 Deluxe - Passport would not > > let me sign-in, but I could still use Money by using the bypass > > option. | after thinking that i had this problem resolved and that the msxml3.dll was the culprit, i am still getting the 'cant sign in' message when trying to use the Passport. at this point, i'll just keep bypassing the Passport features since i dont really use them anyway, and i may disable the use of Passport with Money alltogether... good luck all. g_other2000[at]yahoo.com wrote in message news:<316b109.0402100526.20869bcf[at]posting.google.com> ... - quote - > I had a similar problem with Money 2003 Deluxe - Passport would not > let me sign-in, but I could still use Money by using the bypass > option. | The dll fix did not solve my problem. I called tech support and they said that there were issues with the Passport system. | regsvr32 msxml3.dll seems to have worked for my problem in Money 2004 Premium too (The sign in attempt for username[at]ISP.com was unsuccessful. Please try your sign in name and password again). It will be interesting to see if it comes back. Thanks to Chris Sasarman for posting the following link, I had no luck finding the KB article during my searches. | The fioolowing instructions did fix my login issue. But before I deleted the Money folder defined below, I zipped the folder and contents to be certain the recommendation worked. And it did work! Next, I checked the contents of the zipped Money folder and found two directories: "12.0" and "10.0". Money 2004 is 12.0, and 10.0 is Money 2002 -- my original install. Since my "My Money.mny" file was already imported into 2004, the 10.0 directory was no longer needed. I restored the original 12.0 content, and there is still no problem in logging in to Passport. I'd bet that all who have a Passport login problem still have a folder under "C:\Documents and Settings\<username> \Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Money" put there by an earlier version of Money. | OK, so less than 24 hours after reinstalling Money, it happened again - this time I tried re-registering the msxml3.dll and that did work - my question is why is this dll becoming un-registered all of a sudden? see this Microsoft KB article, as mentioned earlier by Chris Sasarman (thanks Chris): http://support.microsoft.com/default...roduct=mny2003 Run "regsvr32 msxml3.dll" to rereg the dll. | I had a similar problem with Money 2003 Deluxe - Passport would not let me sign-in, but I could still use Money by using the bypass option. In an attempt to revive the Passport via the Password Manager under the File menu - I tried to remove and re-add Passport to the Money file, and I tried changing the password on my .Net Passport. After that, Passport would still not work but now Money would not let me sign in at all via the bypass option. I tried all the voodoo about delete caches and cookies, etc... - none of that worked. I found this Microsoft KB article : http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=317638 - the only thing that finally worked was remove and reinstall of Money. I had not seen the KB article referenced below so it could have been the problem with the msxm13.dll - I'll never know.... Good luck. | This has happened to me several times during the last two days. It always happens the second time I try to log in (the first time there is no problem). I started to think that some other application had passport services open. By rebooting, Money accepts the passport logon with no problem making me think that there is some open file someplace. - quote - > -----Original Message----- > I keep receiving the following message when ever I try to login into the > passport services for Money which is almost a requirement as all my personal > banking is now done online. > I receive this dialog: > The sign-in attempt for <insert email> was unsuccessful. | I had the same problem with Money 2003. I did the following to fix it. From another message, I deleted the folders mentioned below. I then opened up Money and chose to bypass Passport. I removed the use of Passport and selected a local password only. Logged out and in money, then chose to used Passport, logged on and in and now it works. For how long, your guess is as good as mine. I do know that my machine was powered down with Money open possibly just before this started happening. Happy camper for now. | I keep receiving the following message when ever I try to login into the passport services for Money which is almost a requirement as all my personal banking is now done online. I receive this dialog: The sign-in attempt for <insert email> was unsuccessful. Pleas try your sign-in name and password again. Sure I can still get in offline but doesn't Microsoft want to develop a product that can easily sign on? I do have a residential router setup but I never have any problems signing into any of the other passport services. I have double checked to make sure that I was signed into MSN's homepage before trying to sign in to Money. Yes my username & passport is correctly and I have also tried logging out and in to MSN's homepage with Internet Explorer. This is the first weekend I am heavily using Money before I was just using my banking's website to do all my banking but I desire now something that can track my history. I have used Money for weekends in the past before and it always has given me sign in problems (over the past 6 months) and I would think Microsoft would fix something like that so the problem is probably with me. However I cannot find the solution for the problem. |
