| Given that users like us are relying on these seemingly simple things to work correctly and efficiently, I'd say it's time to start shopping around for a bank that gets it right. Consult the financial instutions partners list at http://www.microsoft.com/money/onlin...t.asp?FIList=5 These little conveniences, (or annoyances in your case), are no different than a bank's evening hours, convenient locations, no fee ATM systems, clean lobbies, etc. were ten years ago. All a bank really does is shuffle your money around, find one that does it the way you want. jeff wrote: - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message > news qjb20hhkics6n9ik96tpik34bqj760b18[at]4ax.com...> > In microsoft.public.money, jeff wrote: > > > > > It does this to me too and quite frankly it SUCKS. Yes, that would be way too easy. I've already e-mailed them about this. They> > the memo field. They did kindly pass my suggestion along however. Another problem I run into is that they like to throw meaningless crap in the Check Number field. The majority of the transactions will say "POS000000" as the check number. (This must mean "Piece Of S---" as far as I can tell.) A lot of other ones will say "ATMSC0351" which doesn't really make sense because sometimes I'll be at a store like wal-mart and it will still say ATMSC0351, while other times it will say POS000000 from the same location. Now they are starting to even type the memo field with a hodge-podge of the name of the store as well as the street address smushed together... Such as "WAL-1121-E-MART-CARO RD" for the Wal-mart at 1121 E Caro Road. Why not say "Wal-mart 1121 E Caro RD" instead of shoving the address in the middle of the word wal-mart?! If there were a better bank in town that had this problem fixed, I would gladly close my account and change banks. But, my friends and I have tried all of the banks in town and we have determined that they all suck even worse than this one does unfortunately. I guess I'm just not going to bother downloading anymore transactions. It makes a bigger mess than it is worth. -Jeff |

| It does this to me too and quite frankly it SUCKS. My bank conviently names EVERY transaction as "ATM / CK CARD WITHDRAW". So, I of course go through and change it. However, the next time I download something Microsoft Money changes ALL of the downloaded transactions to match the payee of the FIRST one I changed the last time, so they all are labeled as the incorrect payee. The really stupid thing is that the bank sticks the correct payee name in the memo field. So why can't I just tell Microsoft Money to swap the Memo with the Payee as it processes the import? But no... That would be way too easy! -Jeff <kharless[at]qwest.net> wrote in message news:c73d01c3ede2$9aa0b100$a401280a[at]phx.gbl... - quote - > Often when I download transactions from my bank, they > have a payee that is one of my Epays, but the real payee > is usually another specific vendor. | It matched it to another transaction for some reason. Click the 'change' button and match it to the correct transaction, or allow it to create the transaction as a new one. The window of time you allow money to scan to make a match can affect this. If you don't allow it to look back far enough to find an older transaction, it can't match it properly. -- Chris Cowles, Gainesville, FL <kharless[at]qwest.net> wrote in message news:c73d01c3ede2$9aa0b100$a401280a[at]phx.gbl... - quote - > Often when I download transactions from my bank, they > have a payee that is one of my Epays, but the real payee > is usually another specific vendor. | Often when I download transactions from my bank, they have a payee that is one of my Epays, but the real payee is usually another specific vendor. When I look online at my bank transactions, they payee is correct, so therefore money is renaming this for some reason. It is nearly always the wrong vendor associated with this epay I have scheduled in my banking software, not Money, any ideas why? |
