I assume you have an account set up that holds only the Roth
transactions. If so, read further.

Without going further into the reasons, here is what you want to do:

Go to the details of "Growth Fund of America Roth Fund" and click
Investment Activities on the left.

Click New. Create in the Roth account, do a fake AddShares of say
1000 shares of Growth Fund of America Roth Fund dated before the
earliest real "Growth Fund of America Roth Fund" transaction.

Now start with the oldest real transaction and click Edit. Using the
drop-down list by clicking the little down-arrow, change the
Investment to "Growth Fund of America Fund". Repeat for each
successively newer real transaction.

When the fake AddShares is the only transaction left, Delete that
transaction.

Click Details. If there is a symbol there, blank it. Now that there
are no further transactions, there should be a choice to Delete the
investment. Do so.

What you will be left with is two accounts that each hold "Growth
Fund of America Fund". The shares that are in the Roth will be
maintained separately.

If you feel uneasy about this, keep an extra copy of your Money
file. But I think you will find the result good.

Put another way: you don't really want TWO PRICES to update. You want TWO
VALUES to update based on the change of one PRICE. The Investment has ONE
PRICE. The Investment Accounts have TWO VALUES.

His name is Cal.

You have fundamentally erred if you have setup two different Money
Investments ("agthx Growth Fund of America Fund", and "[no symbol] Growth
Fund of America Roth Fund") if both of these are really just investment
positions in two different investment accounts (a Roth IRA and a traditional
IRA) in the exact same underlying investment vehicle, agthx American Funds
Grth Fund of Amer A.

As we have tried to explain to you several different ways, and as the FAQ I
pointed you to also tries to explain, this should be two Money Investment
Accounts with holdings in the exact same one underlying Money Investment.

For instance, I have two different *****Money Investment Accounts*****:

FidInv IRA (Richard)
and
FidInv Roth IRA (Richard)

These both hold separate positions with their own number of shares in one
underlying defined *****Money Investment*****:

fbgrx Fidelity Blue Chip Growth

You need to:

1) Create separate Money Investment Accounts for the IRA and the Roth IRA
2) Move all transactions from the presently erroneously merged Investment
Account for the non-existent investment vehicle "Growth Fund of America Roth
Fund" to investments in "agthx Growth Fund of America Fund" in the separate
Roth Investment Account.
3) Delete the "Growth Fund of America Roth Fund" Investment since there's no
such thing.

I'm really at a loss how else to explain this to you.

Carl, here is what I'm attempting You where correct when you said I wanted
both prices to update automatically. And that's what I want to do. But I do
not know how to set it up.
1st line: Main Account
Line two & three are the funds within the account which both have the same
symbol, only line two can update. And I have to manually update line three.
What I would like to know, is there a way so that it does it automatically
when I go on-line to update the quotes

Growth Fund of America IRA'S

agthx Growth Fund of America Fund 25.360
0.350 521.855 13,234.24 -272.61

Growth Fund of America Roth Fund 25.360
0.000 47.838 1,213.17 8.13
Total Account Value
14,447.41 -264.48

Thanks, bulbrich

Are you describing the current situation? OK. I may have
misunderstood your question. By update, I thought you meant that you
want the PRICES to update when you got quotes.

I now suspect you are asking how to download TRANSACTIONS from your
financial institution (FI). These two accounts have separate logins
and are perhaps under different SSANs. Often FIs will combine the
accounts and send them together.

But that is not what I am guessing you are saying. What I think you
might be saying is that you download one account from your FI, but
cannot download transactions for the other.

Is it Vanguard? They are a special bug case.

Otherwise, enter "two accounts" into the Ask Money box of Help.

If my guesses are wrong, try stating the problem again.

If you were looking the quote for these investment holdings up in the
newspaper would you look it up twice? Well, neither does Money. Cal has been
trying to explain this to you. See http://www.bollar.org/msmoney/#Q59.

Maybe I'm missing something here Carl, here is my situation.
Main security is Brand X, IRA under brand X has the same symbol as the Roth
under brand X security.

Now could you please show me how to set this up so that when I go on-line
both will update automatically.
Or direct me to a knowledge base that tells how to.

Thanks, Bruce.

Not correct. If the security is the same security, it will have the
same price. If it does not have the same price, it is not the same
security.

In other words, I can not do an automatic update when going on-line for both
listed accounts under the same heading. The IRA with the symbol will
automatically update, but I will have to update the Roth manually. Correct?

If this is correct, maybe Money may want to see if this can be adjusted,
because I'm sure many of those tracking portfolio's are in the same shape as
I am.

Bruce.

You got a message that a symbol is already in use? Create a
security only once. Thereafter choose it from the drop-down list.

Default Same symbol

I have two accounts with the same symbol. One is a standard IRA, and the
other is a Roth. How can I create this in my portfolio to track both. Money
will not let me use the same symbol. What can I do?

Bruce.
