There has been a suggestion to delete the Money folder in your user
Application Data folderin some other threads regarding this issue.
However, before trying that route I would suggest a much less drastic
fix that worked for me that has been suggested in some other threads
as well: Clear your temporary internet files.

We have used both Money 2003 and 2004...I am at my wits
end with the whole sign in thing as well. We do not have
a hotmail email address (we use our cable provider),
but .Net Password does not seem to like us because of
that. I get bounced when trying to enter Money because
of a bad password. I go to .Net Password to change the
password and that confirms that the password is good. I
open up MS Messenger with the email and .Net Password.
But, when I go back to Money after all of this, it will
not let me in because of a bad password. It is very
frustrating to the point I want to throw the machine
across the room...

I'm getting the same thing and I've used Money for the last three versions.
If you uncheck the box that says something like "disable services that
require Passport" or something like that, then type the password, then you
can open the file.

I agree, this is quite irritating.

Default Password on 2004

As a few others have commented here, I'm seeing sporadic problems with this.

Before anyone asks, 2004 is the FIRST incarnation of Money I've used to
manage my finances. I don't have an old file to be confused from.

My MNY file was only just created last week. Sporadically over the past few
days I hit the 'Sign in attempt unsuccessful' error. Today after a single
successful login to add one transaction I synchronized my PocketPC's
PocketMoney transactions then closed down my system. Now upon restarting
and trying to log in I'm getting password refusal.

There's GOT to be a bug or some sort of glitch here - there's not a chance
I'm forgetting this particular password.

HELP!

Terry
