As a result, unless you use "File > Open" to select your regular file, or doubleclick your regular file in Windows Explorer, Money will continue to open your archive instead of your regular file. If you've never looked at a different file in the last 4-5 years, your regular file could be anywhere on your hard drive(s) Search your system for "*.mny", including hidden and system folders. Sort by date, then look for the second-newest file As you just opened it, your archive will likely appear as the newest file. In case there is something wrong with Money or your system, you may want to copy all your Money files to a .zip, CD-R, etc before attempting to open any of them. Although I've never seen a specific example given, I've read many times in this newsgroup that Money 1998 was the buggiest version of Money ever released. Hopefully your data disappearance isn't an example of that bugginess. Good luck. -- Scott Tyler agent_scotty-at-hotmail-dot-com |

If you do a File-> Export, do you get QIF data for the missing transactions? If so, export QIFs from each account and hold them in case that is your best recovery. |

I did read that response from before, and wrote a I am missing. Even my bank account "icon" is missing. I wasn't archiving when the data disappeared, just looked at some old archived files. I can't even begin to try to find my missing stuff. Woe is me. |

| I was checking something I archived from 1999 and when I had finished, my whole bank account disappeared and every transaction that I had posted in the last 1 1/2 years went with it. I have no idea where they went; would anyone guess?? The logo for that account doesn't even appear anymore. The whole file and everything to go with it seems to have gone. I've been using this for a long time and can't imagine that I hit Delete. But not being very technical, I could have done something just as drastic. If I sent them to a weird file, where would I begin to look for that data? You could even email me at bob(removethis)auf[at]prodigy.net. |
