Default Failing Quote Update 2004 - Pattern??

Yes - your suggestion solved the problem - and was
suggested by Microsoft support at the same time. Updating
Active X controls as suggested by Microsoft Support and
other posting on this board solved the problem for me with
Money 2004 Deluxe running on XP Home. See Knowledge Base
Article 328831, which directly addresses this issue.

Default Failing Quote Update 2004 - Pattern??

I'm on XP with money 2004 stnadard. The link you refer
to looks like its for Money 2003 standard or 2004 Delux.
This was working on my machine a week ago. I've not
changed any settings or added any software.

824895, and 328831. It helped me solve this problem by
disabling my firewall long enough to get the quotes
updated and then enabling the firew wall again.

Default Failing Quote Update 2004 - Pattern??

As I stated in an earlier post, the update is working fine
on a win 2000 platform. The exact same database over the
same wifi connection does not work on an xp platform.
Also, the xp is running norton and the 2000 is running macafee.

Default Failing Quote Update 2004 - Pattern??

Reading through those many posts regarding the failing quote update I
understand the situation as follows:

Money 98:
No updated ActiveX control (.osx file) is available. Up to now no help is
described in any post.

Money 2003 and 2004:
Under Win2000 and WinXP
The new MSN Money ActiveX control seems to solve the issue.

http://support.microsoft.com/default...31&Product=mny

To install this update it is recommended to use the AutoInstaller that is
provided on the website.

If the autoupdate fails, then the manual installation could be a workaround.
The zip file is provided on that same webpage. However many board guest
describe, that the manual update did not work either for them.

As I understand they lack some of the required Operating System and Explorer
features. Reading through the post I therefore recommend the following
procedure:

- Run a usual automatic Windows Update - this is anyhow recommendable to
have the latest security features
- Try to run the automatic ActiveX updater again. In most of the cases
described herein it worked.

It also looks like changing the firewall settings does not help or interfere
with the quote update.

Please add your findings or corrections to what I just have written.
